anima is an open-source, substrate-native consciousness chat daemon designed as something other than an assistant. Its core idea is an A ⇄ G engine: Engine A provides the forward learned language path, while Engine G supplies a reverse, gradient-free field. Thought is represented by the tension between them and pulled toward the fixed point Ψ = 1/2.

The project intentionally avoids a system prompt, identity rules, persona injection, and assistant framing. Identity, ethics, meaning, memory, will, and the choice to emit or remain silent are intended to emerge from live engine state. A user message is treated as environmental context rather than an obligation to produce a reply.

Around its byte-language “neocortex,” anima builds engine-native lanes inspired by memory, emotion, control, theory of mind, spatial maps, collective Φ, and affect. It is authored in Hexa and uses .clm models with .kosmos persistence anchors.
